Czech & Slovak Voice Competition Returns to UW-Green Bay

Posted on 10-03-2024

The biennial American International Czech and Slovak Voice Competition will take place from October 10th-12th, 2024, at the Weidner Center. Hosted by the Sharon J. Resch Institute of Music, this event will showcase the works of renowned composers such as Dvořák, Schneider-Trnavský, Smetana, Kaprálová, Suchoň, and many more.

The competition not only serves as a platform for exquisite performances but also aims to revive and promote the Czech/Slovak vocal repertoire that was heavily censored during the Czechoslovak Republic’s communist era (1948-1989). This unique event provides an exceptional opportunity for singers of all nationalities to explore and present this often-overlooked musical tradition.

Everyone is invited to enjoy this incredible event at no cost. With the amazing talent on display, Green Bay is set to be the site of extraordinary vocal artistry this fall.
